- I get a lot of question about how good running to lose weight loss really is.
- Start slowly, more than usual. I’m awake at least 20 minutes before giving it a go.
- Taking fat burning supplements – picks me up and burns even more fat
- Be realistic in your expectations. At first, don’t expect to train as hard as later in the day with a couple of meals in. Now I’m almost at that level – and again I was NOT a morning person at all
- Perception: I used to think mornings “suck”, and now I love them and I find it very convenient to train first thing in the day. After you’ve done exercising, have taken a shower – hopefully you do that step
– and eaten a good breakfast, you feel great, you’re good to go for the day and it’s much easier to make time for yourself first thing in the day than between all the other stuff we have to do later on. And the best exercise program is the one you’ll actually do: the “perfect” program you just read about or do once every blue moon won’t help as just getting out there and moving!
While this site is on fat burning supplements as the title clearly tells, if you really want to succeed in losing the blubber you’ve got to move. I get a lot of questions about how good running for weight loss really is. Some say it can be dangerous, some say it barely works, some swear by it. What is the right answer really?
Well it depends on your unique situation – but don’t worry, I won’t leave you hanging with such a bland answer! I’ll describe a few situations that you probably fit into so adjust accordingly.
I can tell you this: I have a nasty groin pull and I haven’t been able to run for more than 3 months as I’m writing these lines. Man I want to run so bad it hurts. Writing this article is almost mental therapy for me at this point.
So let’s reverse the question: is NOT running bad for weight loss? “Thanks” to my groin injury, I can tell you first hand that I’ve gained some fat even tough I’ve pretty much kept my food intake as usual.
Points to keep in mind: if you haven’t run in a while, begin slowly. The goal is not to run, nor to injure yourself. The goal is running to lose weight, or more precisely to lose FAT. As always, consult with a certified health professional first before beginning an exercise and supplement program.
The best way to lose weight I’ve found yet is to run on empty stomach first thing in the morning.
I say “empty stomach” but I do take fat burning supplements as bit a pick me up and to burn more fat, and some BCAA to protect the muscle with basically no calories and no carbs. If you are on a tight budget, half a scoop of protein powder can do the trick instead of the BCAA though I favor the later.
For a long while I wasn’t what you’d call a morning guy. I used to hate training first thing in the morning. Now I love it!
What I did to adapt
Sprints vs Long Distance Running
This is another article all onto itself so I’ll address that in another piece. In the meantime I say this: why should chose between the two when you can do both? I feel in life as in exercise variety really helps spice things up and keeps the motivation high. Remember the fat burning success equation: exercise + nutrition +motivation.
The best fat burning exercise is the one you’ll actually do! So pick up your shoes and get out there – whatever way you chose on running to lose weight, do it!
Cheers to your fat loss success!
